Is online business just one big virtual organisation?
Is online business just one big virtual organisation? Yes, it is indeed.
It’s a world where you never meet your staff or team members in person, but you still manage a successful business. The online world is one where you can hire someone from anywhere on the globe to do the same work you’d have someone from your own country do. This has many advantages – too many to name in a single post!
Even I have staff working for me at the other end of the world, as well as a mentor. That’s the way it is in this century. The job still gets done, and business runs smoothly. However, it’s not always easy to manage a virtual business. It can be tough pulling together a team when you haven’t even met face to face. Thankfully, the advantages of an online business are more than worth the headaches that come with it.
As your physical business grows, it should grow virtually as well. Why is this? Let’s take a look at how I built my business in a virtual world.
My first virtual assistant does all the administrative bookkeeping and other lower level tasks. As the business owner, there’s no reason for me to be doing lower level tasks when I can simply outsource them. It’s a lot cheaper just to hire someone to do these things for me so I can concentrate on the bigger picture, watching traffic, sales and conversions. If you can outsource a task, do it!
As business grows even more, a customer service representative is a must. Having a customer service representative is a huge load off of my shoulders. Remember – customers are our business. You have to keep them happy. If you find you’re spending a lot of time in customer service, you need to outsource. I did, and I’m very pleased with the results.
Then, there’s sales. Generating traffic, growing your customer base and closing sales is the most important task. I opted for a sales system from my affiliate company to help close the sales for me. This way, I can concentrate on traffic and running the business while my affiliate company takes care of sales.
The only disadvantage of virtual staff is that they are difficult to oversee, but I’ve found it works better when my virtual team makes money off of commissioned sales. They make a sale, and both of us make money. Basically, they’re paid for results, not beforehand. Having a virtual team enables you to hire team members in every time zone. I use Skype for every bit of communication for business.
This is how I do it! Why do I do it this way?
There’s no office. Everybody can work from home and spend time with their family. My business runs 24/7 with virtual employees. Virtual staff are essential to growth in the online business market. Your company will only grow at the pace you want it to grow if you leverage the same benefits I did.
